BREAKING NEWS: RIVERS HIGH COURT SUSPENDS IMPEACHMENT PROCEEDINGS AGAINST GOV. FUBARA

Rivers High Court Restrains Chief Judge from Receiving Impeachment Notice

A Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has issued an order restraining the Chief Judge of Rivers State from receiving or acting on an impeachment notice transmitted by the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

The court order also restrains the Speaker, the Clerk of the House, and 29 other members of the Assembly from taking any further steps in relation to the impeachment process, pending the determination of the substantive suit before the court.

The ruling effectively puts a hold on the impeachment proceedings, reinforcing the principle of due process and judicial oversight in the ongoing political developments within the state.

The matter has been adjourned to a later date for further hearing.
