PROGRESS REPORT ON THE IMPEACHMENT PROCESS AGAINST HIS EXCELLENCY, SIR SIMINALAYE FUBARA GSSRS - GOVERNOR, RIVERS STATE AND HER EXCELLENCY PROF. NGOZI NMA ODU DSSRS 

The Rivers State House of Assembly is pleased to inform the good people of Rivers State that the impeachment process commenced by the House on Thursday 8th January 2026 is fully on course in line with relevant provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended). The two notices of allegations of gross misconduct brought pursuant to Section 188 of the Constitution against the Governor and Deputy have been forwarded to them by the Speaker of the House while we await their responses.

As we all know, it is the House of Assembly that is empowered by the Constitution to stand by the people and stop infractions on the Constitution by the Governor, Deputy Governor or any other officer of the Rivers State Government so, we remain duty bound in this regard.

We are aware that certain persons and media platforms are at it again to misinform the public particularly to the effect that the process has been halted or discontinued. Some are trending false narratives to cause disaffection between the House and well-meaning Nigerians. Therefore, with the leave of the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Martin Chike Amaewhule DSSRS .I call on all and sundry to disregard their antics, as their actions have already failed.We remain committed to our constitutional duties and would not be dissuaded by cheap blackmail or threats from those who do not mean well for our country’s nascent democracy. 

Finally, we thank the good people of Rivers State for their prayers and encouragement and express our gratitude to all stakeholders and leaders at all levels and use this medium to extend our warm regards to all democrats who believe in the Nigerian project.

May God continue to bless our dear Rivers State and Nigeria.

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike's allies, Victor Giadom, and Samuel Nwanosike have emerged as APC National Vice Chairman (South-South) and South South APC Zonal Publicity Secretary, respectively, during the zonal congress today in Delta State.  Giadom was reelected to his position, while Nwanosike was elected as the new publicity secretary. Both men take up the two slots allocated to Rivers State in the South South Zonal Executive Committee.

FEDERAL HIGH COURT SITTING IN ABUJA HAS ISSUED A BENCH WARRANT FOR THE ARREST OF KABIRU TANIMU TURAKI (SAN)

Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Kabiru Tanimu Turaki (SAN). The court, presided over by Justice Keke Meke, also refused an application by the defence counsel seeking to quash the charges against the defendant. Turaki is to be arraigned before the court by the Nigeria Police Force, led by the Inspector General of Police, over allegations of providing false information to the police. Earlier, the matter had been assigned to a High Court sitting in Zuba. However, Turaki failed to appear in court to take his plea. Subsequently, his legal team filed a petition against the judge and requested that the case be reassigned. In his ruling delivered on Thursday, Justice Meke held that there was no justification for the defendant’s absence, noting that Turaki was fully aware of the court proceedings. The Rivers State Police Command has commenced an investigation into a gruesome murder that occurred in Port Harcourt. According to police reports, the incident was formally reported on March 21, 2026, by Miss Divine Anyanwu of No. 9 Aliobi Drive, Elimgbu, at the Abuloma Police Division. She stated that on March 19, 2026, at about 7:00 p.m., she and her friend, identified as Special Bensington, boarded a Bolt ride from a hotel on Emmanuel Road, off Odili Road. While travelling through the Total Gospel area, also off Odili Road, the victims were allegedly ambushed by unidentified armed hoodlums believed to have trailed them from the hotel. The attackers, who were operating a tricycle, reportedly opened fire, leaving one of the victims with severe gunshot injuries. The injured victim was immediately rushed to BMH Hospital in Port Harcourt, where she later died on March 21, 2026, while receiving treatment. JAHOVAH'S WITNESSES, EASE BLOOD TRANSFUSION RULE, ANNOUNCE NEW POLICY

Jehovah’s Witnesses have introduced a notable shift in their long-standing stance on bl+od transfusions, now allowing members to use their own stored bl+od during medical procedures. Under the updated policy, members can have their bl+od removed, preserved, and later reinfused, particularly in planned s¥rgeries.
