PRESIDENT TINUBU NOMINATES ABE AS CHAIR OF NUPRC, SEEKS SENATE CONFIRMATION

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has written two letters to the Senate, seeking the appointment of Senator Abe as Chairman of the Board of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).
 
Senator Magnus Abe, who represented Rivers South East in the Senate for two terms, is a former NNPC board member and current chairman of the National Agency of the Great Green Wall.
 

The President urged the Senate to approve the nominees expeditiously.
 
Before now, the Senate had confirmed Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan as the chief executive officer (CEO) of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).

Speaking on Saturday during a stakeholders’ meeting in Okrika LGA of Rivers state, Wike said  a decision has been made on Fubara’s second term ambition. “We have made a decision as far as Tinubu is concerned. Rivers State Executive Council (EXCO) has approved a proposed ₦1.85 trillion budget for the 2026 fiscal year. The budget is tagged “Budget of Resilience for Growth and Development.” The approval was given on Friday, January 2, 2026, at the EXCO meeting held at Government House, Port Harcourt, and chaired by Governor Siminalayi Fubara. Speaking after the meeting, the Special Adviser on Economic Matters, Prof. Peter Medee, said the budget will be used to complete ongoing projects and settle outstanding obligations of the state.
