COURT ORDERS WIKE'S SON, JORDAN, TO PRODUCE AMERICAN PASSPORT IN $2.1 MILLION LAND SUIT

The High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Maitama has ordered Jordan Ezenwo Nyesom-Wike, son of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, to produce his American passport in court as proceedings continue in a $2.1 million land-related suit. 

Justice Sylvanus Oriji issued the order on Tuesday after counsel to the claimants, Hamza Dantani, made the application during Jordan’s cross-examination. 

The suit, marked CV/008/2026, was filed by Safwan Garba GY and GY Global Oil and Gas Nigeria Limited. The claimants allege that Jordan agreed to facilitate the acquisition of 30 hectares each in Katampe and Guzape for $2.1 million, which they said was paid in cash. 

Jordan denied the allegations and maintained that he did not know the claimants. When asked where he was on September 26, 2025, he told the court he was outside Nigeria and had travelled with his American passport. 

The claimants’ lawyer subsequently asked the court to order him to produce the passport, which Justice Oriji granted. The court also ordered Jordan to write his full name and signature five times each for comparison with disputed documents. 

The claimants further allege that the proposed land transaction was tied to a joint venture to construct 24 six-bedroom duplexes in Guzape and Katampe. Jordan has denied receiving the $2.1 million or signing the alleged acknowledgment of payment. 

His defence also disputes the passport details cited by the claimants and maintains that he was travelling from Abuja to London on a British Airways flight on September 26, 2025. A police report referenced in his filings also disputed the claimants’ evidence of payment. 

The court adjourned the case until Wednesday for continuation of the trial. The passport order is an evidentiary step and does not amount to a finding that the allegations have been proved.

A man in Plateau State has reportedly disconnected electricity and water supplies from his community after losing an election, allegedly because he personally financed the projects. According to reports circulating online, the man allegedly removed the transformer he had installed in the community and took away electrical cables, leaving residents without power. He was also said to have disconnected the community’s water supply, reportedly removing pipes, tanks and submersible pumps that he had personally provided.
