MAN EXCRETES 72 WRAPS OF COCAINE AT ENUGU AIRPORT WEEKS AFTER HIS WEDDING, CLAIMS HE VENTURED INTO DRUG TRAFFICKING TO OFFSET WEDDING EXPENSES

The National dr¥g Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a 25-year-old newlywed businessman, Lovely Chukwulobelu, for attempting to traffic 72 wraps of coc@ine to Portugal, where he resides.

Chukwulobelu was intercepted at the departure hall of the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, on Thursday, September 25, 2026, while attempting to board an Ethiopian Airlines flight to Portugal via Addis Ababa.

The suspect, who had the coc@ine in his stomach and his wedding ring on his finger, was placed under excretion observation and subsequently egested all 72 wraps of the Class A d.

According to the NDLEA, Chukwulobelu said he previously operated a car decoration business at the Trade Fair Complex, Ojo, Lagos, before relocating to Portugal in May 2023. He returned to Nigeria and got married on September 13, 2026, but resorted to dr¥g trafficking to offset expenses incurred during his wedding.

Meanwhile, NDLEA operatives at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, intercepted 2,550,000 pills of Tram@king 225mg, Tram@king  250mg and Royal T+pentadol 250mg weighing 1,640.55kg in three consignments imported from India and Bangladesh.

In Bauchi, two suspects were arrested with 262.5kg of sk¥no concealed in the false bottom of a truck, while two cannabis farms with an estimated yield of 1,360.23kg were destroyed in Edo.

In Lagos, three suspects were arrested with various quantities of sk¥nk, pentazocine, nitrazepam and tramadol.

Two Togolese nationals were also arrested in Oyo with 305.6kg of sk¥nk being moved through the state as part of a cross-border trafficking racket.

At the Seme border, five suspects were arrested with 420 cartons of nitro¥s oxide, weighing 1,688.4kg.

Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Heineken Lokpobiri, has defended Nigeria’s petrol pricing, saying Nigerians are already benefiting from local refining despite the product being sold at a price linked to the global market. Minister of Power, Joseph Tegbe, has revealed that some Nigerians asked him to “slow down” efforts to improve electricity supply because their freezers were now working continuously.  Tegbe made the disclosure on Wednesday in Abuja while commissioning a 3-megawatt solar hybrid power project at Yakubu Gowon University, formerly the University of Abuja.  According to the Minister, some areas that previously went without electricity for months are now enjoying up to 18 hours of supply.  “Places that didn’t have light at all for three months are now having 18 hours light.
