2027 ELECTION: NIGERIA'S VOTERS REGISTER HITS 103 MILLION - INEC

The number of registered voters in Nigeria has surpassed 103 million ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced.

The increase followed the completion of the three-phase Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, which recorded 10,772,421 new registrants across the country.

INEC Chairman, Joash Amupitan, a professor and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), disclosed this on Monday while delivering a keynote address at a strategic workshop for media executives organised by the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) in collaboration with the electoral commission.

Amupitan said INEC had so far completed eight of the 14 major statutory activities outlined in its timetable for the 2027 elections.

According to him, preparations for the elections have now entered the “amber zone” as the country moves closer to the 2027 general elections.
