HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY MEMBERS ARE BEING GIVEN N50M, REPS N200M AND A CAR TO FORFEIT THEIR TICKET - BUBA CLAIMS

Buba Galadima, a chieftain of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has alleged that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is offering millions of naira and vehicles to opposition candidates to withdraw from the 2027 elections.

Speaking on Arise Television’s Prime Time on Tuesday, Galadima claimed that state House of Assembly members who agree to forfeit their tickets for APC candidates are being offered N50 million, while members of the House of Representatives are allegedly offered N200 million and a car.

“We are only 100 days away from the general elections. Like every politician, except those in power, [we] are watching their backs because, as I speak to you, I don’t think there is any candidate outside the APC who is sure of contesting this election,” he said.

“Every member of the House of Assembly who agrees to forfeit his ticket for the APC candidate is currently being given N50 million, and members of the House of Representatives will be given N200 million with a car.”

Galadima further alleged that a woman from Zamfara State was distributing the money to candidates who had agreed to withdraw.

He claimed the woman had recently met with APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, and presented candidates who had allegedly surrendered their tickets after collecting the money.

“In fact, she just held a meeting about four days ago with the APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, showing some candidates who have forfeited their right to contest the election. They wrote resignation letters and collected the money,” Galadima said.

The NDC chieftain also accused President Bola Tinubu and APC governors of wanting to win the elections without facing serious opposition.

On campaign activities, Galadima alleged that opposition politicians were being prevented from campaigning freely and attacked in some areas.

He also questioned the cost of political advertising, claiming that a billboard in Imo State costs as much as N1 billion.
