OGONI OIL AND GAS HOST COMMUNITIES YOUTH ASSOCIATION JOINS PINL STAKEHOLDERS’ MEETING, HONOURS PIPELINE INFRASTRUCTURE NIGERIA LIMITED

The leadership of the Ogoni Oil and Gas Host Communities Youth Association, led by its President, Comr. Teddy Gianen, alongside the Secretary General, Noble Obari Nwolu, led members of the Association to the special stakeholders’ meeting convened by Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (PINL)

The meeting brought together key stakeholders, community representatives, and other relevant interests to strengthen collaboration, promote constructive engagement, and advance the collective responsibility of protecting critical national oil and gas infrastructure.

A major highlight of the gathering was the presentation of a Royal Ward of Recognition to Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited by members of Kegbara Dere Community, in appreciation of the company’s outstanding service, institutional commitment to community welfare, and dedication to the protection and security of Nigeria’s oil assets.

The recognition represents an important acknowledgement of the role that responsible corporate engagement, community partnership, and sustained stakeholder collaboration play in fostering peace, security, and sustainable development in oil producing communities.

Speaking through its participation, the Ogoni Oil and Gas Host Communities Youth Association reaffirmed the importance of maintaining a constructive relationship between pipeline surveillance operators, host communities, traditional institutions, youth organisations, and other stakeholders. The Association recognises that the protection of critical oil and gas infrastructure requires more than operational security; it demands mutual trust, transparent engagement, respect for host communities, and a shared commitment to peace and development.

The Association also emphasised the need for host communities, particularly their youths, to remain active partners in initiatives that promote the security of national assets, discourage pipeline vandalism and crude oil theft, and create an enabling environment for legitimate economic activities to thrive.

For the Ogoni people and other oil-producing communities across the Niger Delta, the protection of oil and gas infrastructure must go hand in hand with meaningful community development, employment opportunities, youth inclusion, environmental responsibility, and respect for the legitimate interests of the people who host these facilities.

The Association believes that sustainable security can only be achieved when host communities are treated as strategic partners rather than mere observers. Accordingly, continuous dialogue, community participation, and accountable corporate community relationships remain essential to building lasting peace and confidence across the region.

The presence of Comr. Teddy Gianen, Noble Obari Nwolu, and other members of the Association at the meeting underscores the organisation’s commitment to constructive stakeholder engagement, the advancement of host community interests, and the promotion of peace and stability throughout Ogoni and the wider Niger Delta.

The Association commended PINL for its engagement with stakeholders and acknowledged the significance of the recognition presented by Kegbara Dere Community. It further encouraged all parties to sustain the spirit of cooperation demonstrated at the meeting and translate stakeholder engagements into measurable benefits for host communities.

Ultimately, securing Nigeria’s oil assets and securing the future of host communities must be complementary objectives. Through genuine partnerships, inclusive dialogue, and shared responsibility, stakeholders can contribute to a safer operating environment, stronger community relations, and a more sustainable future for the Niger Delta.

Ogoni Oil and Gas Host Communities Youth Association remains committed to promoting peace, protecting community interests, strengthening stakeholder relationships, and ensuring that the voices of host-community youths remain part of conversations shaping the future of the Niger Delta.
