TAMBARI STEVE CONFIRMS HE IS SAFE, CALLS FOR RESPECT FOR MEDIA FREEDOM
Chairman of Resolution Wall Group, Tambari Steve, has confirmed that he is safe and sound following an incident on October 5, 2026, which he said raised concerns over his safety.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Steve expressed appreciation to members of the public, friends, colleagues, media practitioners and others who reached out to him after the incident.
According to him, the incident occurred at about 4:34 p.m. on October 5, when unidentified individuals allegedly presented themselves as members of the security services and issued warnings to him in connection with some publications by RwGBlog News.
Steve said he has reported the incident to the appropriate security authorities and called for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding it.
He also clarified that he does not personally oversee the day-to-day editorial operations of RwGBlog News, stressing that the platform has a management team, editorial staff and established editorial procedures responsible for handling its publications.
«“I have consistently maintained that media platforms should be allowed to operate independently and professionally,” Steve stated.»
He said media organisations have a responsibility to inform the public, report matters of public interest, ask questions and provide platforms for different perspectives.
The Resolution Wall Group chairman consequently appealed to individuals, political actors, organisations and members of the public to respect media practitioners and media organisations, particularly when they disagree with a report or publication.
He maintained that disagreements over media reports should not result in intimidation, threats, harassment or targeting of journalists and media organisations.
Steve further expressed his appreciation to everyone who called, sent messages, prayed for him and showed concern for his safety following reports of the incident.
He reaffirmed his commitment to his work, the development of the media industry, responsible journalism and freedom of expression.
