WIKE ORDERS DEMOLITION OF ILLEGAL BEER PARLOURS IN ABUJA'S ASOKUBO
FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has directed security agencies and the Department of Development Control to dismantle unauthorised beer parlours operating in the Asokoro area of Abuja following security concerns.
Wike issued the directive on Friday after a security meeting with the FCT Commissioner of Police and the Director of the Department of State Services (DSS).
“We have been told of some security threats originating from somewhere leading towards Asokoro, where some individuals are attempting to establish unauthorised beer parlour businesses,” he said.
“We will not allow that. There is no such approval, and we will not permit it.”
Wike said officials had been instructed to clear the affected areas before the operations could lead to further security problems.
“We have directed Development Control, in conjunction with security agencies, to go and chase them away before we begin to have security problems,” he added.
The minister said the move was aimed at preventing potential criminal activities and maintaining law and order in the nation’s capital.
