The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) loyal to Nyesom Wike has asked Ajibola Basiru, national secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to apologise to the FCT minister within 48 hours. On Monday, Basiru asked Wike to resign his appointment and focus on what he described as an “obsession” with Rivers state politics. Wike had asked the APC national secretary to stay off Rivers politics. In a statement issued on Tuesday and signed by Etim Isong, factional zonal publicity secretary of the PDP south-south, the faction condemned Basiru’s “personal attack” on Wike. The group said Basiru’s remarks were inappropriate and capable of undermining the administration of President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 election. The statement said it was perplexing that Basiru, who “failed to produce a governor for the APC” in Osun state in 2023, would seek to question the political relevance of Wike in Rivers state. The faction said Basiru’s suggestion that Wike’s suppor...

I will not allow that mistake again,” he said. “So everybody should know we have made a decision.”
Prophet Ekong Ituen has issued a stern warning to Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, stating that his tenure in office may be coming to an end due to alleged neglect of spiritual guidance. According to the cleric, Governor Fubara allegedly ignored several spiritual directives aimed at safeguarding his political future. Prophet Ituen claimed that revelations in the spiritual realm indicate that the governor could either face impeachment or be denied the party ticket for a second term. He further called on Nigerians to pray fervently to avert what he described as an impending political crisis in Rivers State. The prophet also referenced an earlier prophecy in which he reportedly predicted the governor’s impeachment attempt. He noted that the Rivers State House of Assembly acted in line with that prediction by serving the governor a notice of impeachment, adding that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu later intervened by declaring a state of emergency, which ultimately pr...

Victor Osimhen reportedly thr£atened to quit Nigeria’s Afcon squad after an on-pitch cl@sh with Ademola Lookman, Fulham forward, during their 4–0 win over Mozambique. The incident followed earlier teamwork as Lookman set up two of Osimhen’s goals, but frustration grew when passes didn’t reach him. Osimhen confronted Lookman aggressively, pushed aside captain Wilfred Ndidi, and was even restrained by a Mozambique defender before being substituted for Moses Simon. After the match, he left the stadium early, dropped his accreditation, and said he was “done” with the national team, planning to return to Turkey. The episode raises concerns over Osimhen’s temperament, coming after a previous clash with former coach Finidi George. Meanwhile, Lookman remains Afcon’s standout performer with seven goal contributions, but Nigeria’s victory has been overshadowed by the potential crisis with their star striker.
