JUST IN: SINGER AKON ARRESTED IN GEORGIA AFTER HE WAS DECLARED WANTED. | #RWGBLOG

Singer and entrepreneur Akon was briefly detained in Georgia after police discovered he was wanted on an out-of-county warrant issued in Roswell, New Mexico, authorities confirmed.

The 52-year-old star, whose real name is Aliaune Thiam, was taken into custody by Chamblee Police on the morning of November 7 after his white Tesla triggered a Flock security camera alert connected to the warrant.

According to the police report, Officer Joshua Rosa located Akon near a Tint World shop on Chamblee Dunwoody Road. After verifying his identity, officers placed him under arrest. The “Locked Up” singer reportedly remained calm and cooperative, acknowledging he was aware of the warrant.

Akon was searched no w+apons or contraband were found and later handed over to DeKalb County Jail, where he was booked and released approximately six hours later.

While details of the Roswell warrant remain unclear, the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the arrest and release to TMZ, which also published Akon’s mugshot showing him in a black hoodie with a neutral expression.

The Grammy-nominated artist rose to global fame in the early 2000s with chart-topping hits like Locked Up, Lonely, and Smack That. In recent years, he has focused on philanthropic and tech ventures, including Akon Lighting Africa, which brings solar energy to rural communities, and the ambitious Akon City project in Senegal a futuristic, cryptocurrency-powered metropolis inspired by Black Panther’s Wakanda.

As of now, Akon’s team has not issued any statement regarding the arrest or the underlying warrant.
