JUST IN: TAMBARI STEVE OPENS UP ABOUT THE PAIN OF LEADERSHIP AND HOW HE ALMOST RESIGN AS FAJIERS CLUB PRESIDENT. | #RWGBLOG

MY LEADERSHIP JOURNEY WITH FAJIERS CLUB

Away from business and event management, I had never held any public office. I was used to running my businesses—giving instructions and having staff respond “Yes boss.”
Leadership in an organisation, I would later learn, is a completely different world.

When I was elected President of Fajiers Club in 2022, we started small and grew steadily. But along the way, a shocking crisis hit us. Some members began to challenge the leadership, accusations flew around, and the once–peaceful atmosphere became tense.

For someone like me, who had only known the structure of business leadership, it was overwhelming. Organisation crises were new to me. It became so frustrating that I resigned at a point. It took the intervention of dedicated members and executives to convince me to return and continue leading.

By 2023, peace was restored. I thought that was the end. But in early 2025, another crisis emerged — even leading to the formation of factions in a club of just 40 members. It was discouraging and made me question why I accepted the role in the first place.

But looking back today, I see that every challenge was preparing me.
I was being shaped, refined, and taught the true meaning of leadership.

Now, when I see crises in other organisations, I understand why great leaders stay calm even when everything seems to be falling apart.

As President of Fajiers Club, I have learned more about leadership than any book or seminar could have taught me.

And today, I can proudly beat my chest and say:
Fajiers Club is the strongest and biggest social club around.

We have achieved so much together:

Over ₦7 million invested in philanthropy

₦4.5 million in membership benefits through our Fajiers Helping Hand Program

Additional support programs, including welfare support and birthday support for members
