President Bola Tinubu will depart Abuja on Wednesday for a two-nation trip to Johannesburg, South Africa, and Luanda, Angola, where he will attend the G20 Leaders’ Summit and the AU-EU Summit.

His first stop is Johannesburg for the 20th G20 Summit scheduled for November 22–23 at the Johannesburg Expo Centre.

Tinubu was invited by South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, who currently chairs the G20. Brazil’s President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva had also extended an invitation during his 2024 G20 presidency.

This year’s summit, themed “Solidarity, Equality, Sustainability,” will gather leaders of the world’s major economies, the AU, EU, and global financial institutions.

Discussions will span three plenaries focusing on inclusive and sustainable growth, trade, development financing, debt, disaster risk reduction, climate change, just energy transitions, food systems, critical minerals, decent work, and artificial intelligence.

President Tinubu is expected to participate actively in these sessions and hold bilateral meetings aimed at advancing his Renewed Hope Agenda, with emphasis on regional peace, security, and economic development.

After the G20 Summit, Tinubu will proceed to Luanda for the 7th AU-EU Summit taking place from November 24–25.

The meeting will bring together African and European leaders, young innovators, and civil society groups to explore solutions to shared challenges, including climate change, digital transformation, infrastructure, manufacturing, agribusiness, and inclusive development.

The President will be accompanied by top officials, including Foreign Affairs Minister Yusuf Tuggar, Finance Minister Wale Edun, Solid Minerals Minister Dele Alake, Trade and Investment Minister Jumoke Oduwole, and NIA Director General Mohammed Mohammed.

Tinubu is expected back in Nigeria after the conclusion of both summits.
