A social media commentator, named certified courtist took to his facebook page this morning addressing the recent collapse of the water tank in Ogoniland which was commissioned four days ago.

He wrote

When I woke up this morning, I was expecting to see a letter of resignation from the Project Coordinator Prof. Nenibarini Zabbey and BOT Chairman Emmanuel Deeyah of HYPREP, over the recent collapse of the water tank which they commissioned four days ago. Quite sad, they are still there as it is the Nigerian case.

It is shameful how these men would get away with this. I have consistently raised alarm on how these guys keeps doing substandard jobs, while huge sums are earmarked for it. They award contracts to family and friends and they are not interested in whether the project is properly executed.

What is further sad is that, this project was executed in the community of the BOT Chairman. The BOT Chairman could not put his eyes down to make sure the right materials are used for such project in his village. This shows how careless he is and probably his dislike for his people.

From this experience, HYPREP should get a team of engineers and access the kind of materials that were used in the construction of other tanks which they have commissioned previously to avoid this same situation. The contractor for this project needs to be arrested and prosecuted.

This collapsed tank will remain an indictment on the conscience of the leadership of HYPREP. There is a sense in which Ogoni leaders keep making sure their people suffer while they pretend to be agitating for their liberation.
