BREAKING NEWS: FEDERAL HIGH COURT BARS POLICE FROM ENFORCING TINTED GLASS PERMITS NATIONWIDE

A Federal High Court judgment delivered today, Wednesday, December 17, 2025, has officially banned the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and all officers from enforcing tinted glass permit policies. The court, presided over by Justice Joe Egwu, also barred the police from harassing, arresting, detaining, or extorting motorists and citizens under the guise of implementing the policy. The injunction further restrains the police from using the Parkway Projects Account a private contractor’s account for any government business until the substantive suit is heard and determined. The order followed an application filed by Mr. Israel Joe in suit HOR/FHR/M.3/2025, represented by Mr. Kunle Edun, SAN, and other lawyers. It effectively stops the Nigeria Police from resuming the tinted glass permit enforcement scheduled for January 2, 2026. The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Ajibola Basiru, on Monday, expressed support for Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, ahead of the 2027 general elections. FG DECLARES DECEMBER 25, 26 AND JANUARY 1 PUBLIC HOLIDAYS

The Federal Government has declared December 25 and 26, 2025, as well as January 1, 2026, public holidays to mark Christmas, Boxing Day, and the New Year celebrations. A statement by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Dr Magdalene Ajani indicates that the declaration was made on behalf of the Federal Government by the Minister, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo. The Minister calls for reflection on the values of love, peace, humility, and sacrifice associated with the birth of Jesus Christ. He also calls on Nigerians, regardless of faith or ethnicity, to use the festive season to pray for peace, security, and national progress. A Nigerian man has sparked debate after questioning the practice of attending church services only to watch them on television. He specifically mentioned Salvation Ministries as one of the churches where some members reportedly watch services on TV under the guise of physically going to church. He argued that with the availability of live services on social media platforms, it makes little sense for explanation to travel to a church building just to watch a televised service without seeing the pastor minister live. According to him, it is illogical for someone to wake up early on a Sunday morning, dress up, forgo the comfort of their bed, spend money on transportation, and then sit in church merely to watch a television screen. The EFCC has also released the list of properties valued at N212.8billion, which were mostly acquired during Malami's eight years (2015-2023) in office as Attorney-General of the Federation. The properties, which include hotels, residential buildings, lands, schools, and a printing press, are scattered across Kebbi, Kano, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
