BREAKING NEWS: ALLEGED N32 BILLION NAIRA HYPREP WATER PROJECT IN OGONI LAND: REPS SUMMON DR. FEBAKE DOUGLAS

The President of the Ogoni Liberation Initiative, Dr. Febake Douglas, has appeared before the Ad-hoc Committee on the alleged mismanagement of oil spill cleanup funds at the Federal House of Representatives.

The invitation followed a series of allegations made by Dr. Febake concerning the mismanagement of funds allocated to the Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project (HYPREP), as well as the reported collapse of several water tank projects across Ogoniland.
The session, which lasted about two hours, featured extensive questioning. Members of the committee assured that a thorough investigation would be conducted into HYPREP and its projects in Ogoniland.

It will be recalled that last week, Dr. Febake published estimated costs for individual HYPREP water tank projects in the area, alleging that the construction of 19 water tanks amounted to a total cost of ₦32 billion. The claim sparked widespread reactions online, with many Ogoni residents calling for a comprehensive investigation.
