Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has officially joined the Accord Party, marking a significant shift in his political career. Adeleke made the announcement at a stakeholders' meeting at the Osun State Government House, citing the party's focus on welfarism as aligning with his administration's priorities.

Adeleke, who previously served as a Senator representing Osun West, formally announced his defection on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, just a day before the Accord Party's governorship primary. He had submitted his resignation letter to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on November 4, 2025, citing leadership turmoil at the national level.

In his address, Adeleke emphasized the Accord Party's mission of welfarism, stating it aligns with his administration's focus on citizens' and workers' welfare. He welcomed party leaders to the Osun State Government House, expressing his commitment to inclusive leadership and good governance.

Adeleke's defection comes ahead of the 2026 governorship election, with the Accord Party now poised to field him as their candidate. The governor expressed confidence in the party's chances, stating that Osun State voted for good governance in 2022 and will support continuity in 2026.
