JUST IN: TWO TEENAGE GIRLS ARRESTED WITH PUMP-ACTION SHOTGUN AND CARTRIDGE - POLICE LAUNCH MANHUNT FOR MAIN SUSPECT | #RWGBLOG
Residents of Uromi in Edo State were left in disbelief after police officers arrested two teenage girls caught in possession of a pump-action shotgun and five live cartridges, raising serious questions about how young girls are becoming entangled in violent crime.
According to the Edo State Police Command, the suspects — 18-year-old Believe Ehinor and 19-year-old Ofoma Sofia — were intercepted by officers from the Uromi Division during routine patrols. The officers became suspicious after noticing their unusual movement and the way they clutched a concealed bag.
When the bag was searched, officers reportedly found the shocking discovery — a loaded pump-action shotgun and several cartridges.
During interrogation, the teenagers claimed the weapon belonged to Peace Ehinor, who they said escaped moments before a previous police raid. Peace is now on the run, and the police have launched an active manhunt to track her down.
A police source described the arrest as “alarming and deeply disturbing”, noting that the presence of such a weapon in the hands of teenagers could have led to tragedies if not intercepted early.
The community has reacted with a mix of shock and fear, wondering how young girls barely out of secondary school could end up transporting a deadly weapon.
Security analysts warn this incident may be part of a larger trend where criminal networks exploit teenagers to evade suspicion.
The Edo State Police Command assured the public that investigations are ongoing and promised to bring everyone involved — including the fleeing suspect — to justice.
