"OIL DEAL" MOVIE: PRODUCER KENNY READY TO UNCOVER HIDDEN REALITIES OF NIGER DELTA OIL POLITICS

Oil Deal Movie was created to expose this painful reality—to tell the untold story of environmental injustice, broken promises, and the human cost of greed. The film asks a critical question that still lingers today:

What was once a blessing has become a burden for the people of Ogoni in Nigeria’s Niger Delta. Rich in oil deposits—often called “black gold”—the land initially promised prosperity and development. Instead, decades of oil exploration and exploitation transformed fertile soil into a poisoned environment and peaceful communities into zones of suffering.

Rivers that once provided drinking water and sustained fishing livelihoods became polluted and unsafe. Farmlands were destroyed, crops failed, and hunger spread across the region. As pollution deepened, residents began to experience strange illnesses, unexplained deaths, and a steady decline in quality of life.

When the people demanded justice, accountability, and environmental restoration, many voices were allegedly silenced by powerful interests. Behind the scenes, whispers of secret oil deals, political compromise, and systemic neglect grew louder—fueling distrust and anger within the community.

In response to international pressure and public outcry, the Nigerian government launched the Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project (HYPREP), aimed at cleaning up Ogoniland and restoring hope. However, years later, concerns surrounding corruption, lack of transparency, and ineffective implementation continue to cast doubt on whether the project is truly serving the people it was meant to help.
