SENATOR PRESIDENT GODSWILL AKPABIO INSTITUTES N200 BILLION SUIT AGAINST SEN. NATASHA AKPOTI UDUAGHAN OVER DEFAMATION RELATED TO SEXUAL HARASSMENT. | #RWGBLOG
Senate President Godswill Akpabio has clarified that his N200 billion defamation suit against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan was filed over three months ago, contrary to her claims that it was a recent development. The suit stems from Akpoti-Uduaghan's allegations of sexual harassment against Akpabio, which he denies.
Akpabio's media office stated that the senator had been evading service of the court summons, necessitating the use of substituted service through the Clerk of the National Assembly. Akpabio is seeking damages, retractions, and nationwide broadcast apologies, claiming that Akpoti-Uduaghan's allegations have severely injured his reputation and subjected him to public ridicule.
Akpoti-Uduaghan has welcomed the lawsuit, stating that it provides her with an opportunity to prove her allegations of sexual harassment and subsequent political victimization. She has expressed readiness to present evidence and testify in court.
The case is scheduled to commence on January 21, 2026, and is expected to be one of the most closely watched legal battles in Nigerian politics.
