THE CORPORATE AFFAIRS COMMISSION ( CAC ) HAS ISSUED A STERN PUBLIC NOTICE DECLARING THAT ALL POS OPERATORS IN NIGERIA MUST BE DULY REGISTERED WITH THE COMMISSION OR FACE IMMEDIATE SHUTDOWN STARTING FROM 1ST JANUARY 2026 | #RWGBLOG


The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has announced a nationwide enforcement exercise to end the operations of unregistered Point-of-Sale (PoS) agents across the country. The commission has directed all PoS operators to register with the CAC before January 1, 2026, or face penalties, including seizure of terminals and possible arrest.

According to the CAC, the move is aimed at curbing rising financial risks associated with unregulated agent banking activities in Nigeria. The commission noted that unregistered PoS operators violate the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) 2020 and the Central Bank of Nigeria's (CBN) Agent Banking Regulations.

The CAC warned that security agencies will enforce nationwide compliance, and fintech companies enabling illegal operations will be placed on a watchlist and reported to the CBN. All operators are advised to regularize immediately, as compliance is mandatory.

A Federal High Court judgment delivered today, Wednesday, December 17, 2025, has officially banned the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and all officers from enforcing tinted glass permit policies. The court, presided over by Justice Joe Egwu, also barred the police from harassing, arresting, detaining, or extorting motorists and citizens under the guise of implementing the policy. The injunction further restrains the police from using the Parkway Projects Account a private contractor’s account for any government business until the substantive suit is heard and determined. The order followed an application filed by Mr. Israel Joe in suit HOR/FHR/M.3/2025, represented by Mr. Kunle Edun, SAN, and other lawyers. Sources revealed that his move was triggered by the recent defection of Governor Siminalayi Fubara from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC. Engr.
