A tr+gic road acc+dent on Ikorodu Road, Lagos, has plunged residents into mourning following the d+ath of two people, including an infant. The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) said the cr+sh occurred near Obanikoro when a speeding red Tata commercial bus lost control, rammed through the road median, and collided with an oncoming Volkswagen bus.
The impact claimed the lives of an adult woman and an eight-month-old baby. LASTMA officials, assisted by members of the public, promptly carried out rescue operations at the scene. Ten passengers, including both drivers, were rescued with varying degrees of serious inj¥ries and rushed to nearby hospitals for medical treatment.
The acc+dent scene was secured, while the d+maged vehicles were evacuated to ease traffic congestion along the busy corridor. Authorities have renewed calls for motorists to drive responsibly, warning that excessive speed and p++rly maintained vehicles continue to endanger lives and lead to avoidable tragedies on the roads.
