"YOU MUST PASS THROUGH WIKE TO WIN IN RIVERS STATE," SAYS APC VICE CHAIRMAN VICTOR GIADON
Hon. Victor Giadom, the National Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), South-South, has stated that Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State would need the backing of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to secure any political victory in the state.
Giadom made the remark on Tuesday during Wike’s “Thank You” visit to the people of Gokana Local Government Area in Rivers State.
He described Wike as a formidable and dependable force in Rivers politics, assuring the minister that no political opposition could challenge his influence in Gokana.
“I assure you, on behalf of my people, that Gokana stands firmly with Wike and President Bola Tinubu. There is no other political force in Gokana apart from you,” Giadom said.
According to him, Gokana remains inaccessible to any political contender without Wike’s support, stressing that even Governor Fubara would have to seek Wike’s endorsement to win in the area.
Also speaking at the event, former Senator representing Rivers South-East, Magnus Abe, declared that the people of Gokana had already aligned themselves with Wike and President Tinubu.
“Wike is a unifying leader, and that is why we are united. Anyone who follows Wike will not return empty-handed. The Ogoni people are solidly behind you,” Abe said, adding that Tinubu’s support in Gokana was guaranteed.
In the same vein, the Deputy Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Dumle Maol, pledged unwavering loyalty to Wike, assuring him of total support from the people of Gokana.
Earlier, the Chairman of Gokana Local Government Area, Confidence Deko, also reaffirmed the council’s allegiance to the minister, thanking him for his contributions to the area and promising continued political support.
Responding, Wike said the visit was aimed at appreciating the people of Gokana for their consistent support over the years. He commended their unity and urged them to remain patient and follow the guidance of their leaders when the time comes.
The FCT minister further disclosed that members of both the APC and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State were working together under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, noting that this explained the presence of members from both parties at the gathering.
