"WIKE IS A TYRANT WHO RULED RIVERS STATE FOR EIGHT YEARS. THE VAMPIRES AND VULTURES ACTING AS HIS MESSENGERS CANNOT FORCE GOV FUBARA OUT OF OFFICE," - PRINCE JOHN WARNS.
Port Harcourt Pressure Group Condemns Impeachment Move Against Fubara, Backs Governor
The Port Harcourt Township United Pressure Group has strongly condemned the Rivers State House of Assembly over its notice of impeachment against Governor Siminalayi Fubara, describing the move as a renewed attempt to plunge the state into political crisis.
Speaking during a press briefing in Port Harcourt, the President of the group, Prince Tamunokuro John, said the lawmakers led by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule, were once again placing Rivers State on a “dangerous path,” similar to events that previously resulted in a state of emergency.
Prince John recalled that the earlier political crisis, which led to emergency rule between March and September last year, caused significant social, economic, political, financial, and administrative losses to the state. He warned that any attempt to repeat such actions would be harmful to the people of Rivers State.
According to him, Governor Fubara has demonstrated a strong commitment to peace, stability, and development, stressing that the governor’s “Rivers First” agenda reflects his dedication to the welfare of ordinary citizens rather than personal power or wealth.
He accused the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, of orchestrating the ongoing political tension out of fear of political irrelevance, insisting that Rivers State belongs to its people and not to any individual or group.
Prince John further stated that Governor Fubara has made several sacrifices in the interest of peace, including allowing local government elections that produced council chairmen and councillors linked to Wike’s political camp, dissolving his cabinet, and later removing the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Tammy Danagogo.
He questioned what more the governor could do to maintain peace, noting that few leaders would tolerate the level of political pressure allegedly directed at Governor Fubara.
The pressure group reaffirmed its loyalty to the governor, declaring unconditional support for him regardless of party affiliation. Prince John described Governor Fubara as a “divine mistake” whose leadership, he said, is transforming the economic, social, and political landscape of Rivers State.
He concluded by insisting that Governor Siminalayi Fubara remains the legitimate governor of Rivers State and warned that no group or political interest could force him out of Government House.
