COURT ENTERTAINS CASE ON RIVERS SOUTH-EAST SENATORIAL DISTRICT BYE_ELECTION BY PRINCE KABARI OF OGONILAND
Port Harcourt, Rivers State – Prince Kabari Op-Agara Akeeyor VII who was seeking to Represent the people via the platform of the ADC has reaffirmed his commitment to pursuing what he described as political justice, fairness, and democratic inclusion for the people of Bori Urban, Ogoniland, and the Rivers South-East Senatorial District through legal means.
In a statement issued on behalf of the senatorial hopeful, Prince Kabari disclosed that the suit challenging issues surrounding the Rivers South-East Senatorial By-Election remains pending before the Federal High Court in Port Harcourt, under Suit No. FHC/PH/CS/87/2026.
According to the statement, the court directed that the substantive matter be heard after all defendants and respondents were duly served with the Motion on Notice.
With service now completed, the case has been scheduled for hearing.
The statement noted that the substantive issues raised in the suit remain before the court and are yet to be determined.
Prince Kabari through his counsel had sought the court's interim order directing the maintenance of the status quo ante and restraining the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from taking further steps regarding the proposed Rivers South-East Senatorial By-Election pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit.
While acknowledging that some of the interim reliefs initially sought were not granted as requested, he expressed respect for the court's decision and pledged to continue pursuing all lawful remedies available under the Constitution and the laws of Nigeria.
He maintained that the legal action was not intended to undermine democracy but to ensure that democratic processes are conducted fairly, lawfully, and in a manner that safeguards the rights of all stakeholders.
Prince Kabari also called on his supporters and residents of Rivers South-East Senatorial District to remain peaceful, law-abiding, and avoid actions capable of disrupting public order, stressing his confidence in the judiciary's ability to deliver justice.
Describing the case as a broader struggle for democratic participation and the protection of the rights of the people, he thanked supporters for their prayers, encouragement, and solidarity.
"The journey continues. Justice remains our objective. Democracy remains our cause. The people remain our priority," the statement concluded.
The statement was signed by Miracle Vincent Tambari on behalf of Prince Kabari Op-Agara Akeeyor VII.
