ATIKU NEEDS MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT - KEYAMO FIRES BACK AT EX-VP OVER TINUBU ATTACKS
Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has taken a swipe at former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, suggesting that his repeated criticisms of President Bola Tinubu are driven by frustration over his failure to win the 2023 presidential election.
In a statement issued on Friday night, Keyamo argued that Atiku had yet to come to terms with losing the presidential contest, claiming that the outcome had left the opposition politician bitter about Tinubu’s political success.
“It is now very obvious that Atiku Abubakar is a pained and very bitter fellow,” Keyamo stated, adding that the former vice president believed Tinubu had outsmarted him in the race for Nigeria’s highest political office.
The minister noted that both men had followed different political paths for decades, recalling a period when Atiku, as vice president, appeared to occupy a higher position in the political hierarchy than Tinubu, who was then governor of Lagos State.
According to Keyamo, circumstances eventually favoured Tinubu, whose combination of political strategy, fortune and what he described as divine intervention helped him achieve in his first presidential bid what Atiku had been pursuing since 1993.
Keyamo also urged individuals close to Atiku to offer him genuine support instead of encouraging his continued public att@cks on the President.
He warned that the former vice president’s approach could further weaken his political standing and push him closer to what he described as “political oblivion.”
Citing Ecclesiastes 9:11, Keyamo argued that political success also depends on timing and circumstances beyond an individual’s control.
He concluded by insisting that Atiku needed help, declaring that the former vice president “urgently needs m£ntal health support at this critical time.”
