I wish to express my profound commendation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR for his unwavering commitment to the Ogoni clean-up project. His leadership has been instrumental in driving this initiative forward, and the progress made so far is a testament to his dedication to environmental remediation and the well-being of the Ogoni people.
I also commend the Honourable Minister of Environment, Balarabe Abbas Lawal, for his tireless efforts in supporting the Ogoni clean-up project. His ministry's commitment to environmental restoration is commendable, and I appreciate his leadership in ensuring that this project receives the necessary support.
Furthermore, I wish to commend Prof. Nenibarini Zabbey, the Project Coordinator of HYPREP, for his outstanding leadership and dedication to the Ogoni clean-up project. His appointment is a masterstroke, given his globally recognized expertise in environmental restoration. Notably, he is the only African recipient of the prestigious Ruth Patrick Award, an accolade he received in recognition of his exceptional work in the field, since it was instituted 26 years ago. Additionally, he had secured compensation in London for 15,601 victims of the Bodo oil spill, demonstrating his track record of achieving environmental justice.
Within his two years in office as the Project Coordinator of HYPREP, he has made significant progress and achievements, including:

- 36.55% completion of phase 2 land remediation

- ICT-Supported Classroom Project introduced in five pilot secondary schools
- Distribution of school bags, shoes, and other school items to primary and secondary schools in Ogoni
- Additional 50,000 exercise books provided to schools in Ogoni
These achievements underscore Prof. Zabbey's global environmental expertise and recognition, making him the ideal person to lead the Ogoni clean-up project.
I urge all stakeholders to support this noble project and refrain from sabotaging efforts to clean up the Ogoni environment.
