DANGER LOOMS AS TANKER OVERTURNS ON BRIDGE, CROWD GATHERS TO COLLECT SPILLED CONTENTS

A tanker has overturned on a major bridge, creating a highly dangerous and volatile situation for motorists and nearby residents. Despite the obvious risk of fire or explosion, large crowds were seen gathering under the bridge, scooping the contents spilling from the fallen tanker.

Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with people using containers and buckets to collect the leaking substance, believed to be fuel, while traffic remained disrupted on the bridge above. The reckless action has raised serious safety concerns, as even a minor spark could trigger a devastating explosion.

Emergency responders and security agencies have been alerted to the incident, but the growing crowd continues to pose a major challenge to safety efforts.

Authorities have warned that the situation could escalate into a major disaster if the area is not immediately cordoned off and the crowd dispersed.

Residents have been urged to stay away from the scene as officials work to prevent loss of lives and property.

The Aleto community in Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State has renewed its call for transparency, accountability and justice over funds allegedly allocated to landowners and host communities connected to Indorama Eleme Petrochemicals, Fertiliser and Super-Packaging companies. Alayande was reportedly found de@d within the hostel premises on Friday, August 7, 2026, after she allegedly jumped from the rooftop of a four-storey hostel building. According to the police, a s¥ic+de note was reportedly discovered by her hostel mate and a relative, who began searching for her before she was allegedly found after the incident.
