MOSOGP COMMENDS HYPREP COORDINATOR ZABBEY, PLEDGES SUPPORT FOR OGONILAND CLEAN-UP
The Movement for the Survival of the Gokana People (MOSOGP) has praised the Project Coordinator of the Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project (HYPREP), Professor Nenibarini Zabbey, for what it described as exemplary leadership and renewed commitment to the environmental restoration of Ogoniland.
In a statement signed by its President, Deenor Lucky, MOSOGP said HYPREP under Professor Zabbey has demonstrated increased seriousness, professionalism, and transparency, leading to measurable progress in addressing decades of hydrocarbon pollution that have devastated Gokana communities and the wider Ogoni environment.
The group noted that Professor Zabbey’s technical expertise, people-centred engagement with affected communities, and responsiveness to long-standing grassroots concerns have helped rebuild public trust and accelerate remediation efforts long demanded by the Ogoni people.
MOSOGP expressed full confidence in Professor Zabbey’s leadership and declared its unwavering support for his stewardship of HYPREP. The organization also called on community leaders, youths, civil society groups, and relevant government agencies to set aside personal or political interests and work collaboratively with HYPREP to ensure the success, integrity, and sustainability of the cleanup project.
Reaffirming its core mission, MOSOGP reiterated its commitment to environmental justice, accountability, and sustainable development, stressing that it will continue to support leadership that delivers tangible, people-driven results for the Gokana people.
