APC WINS THREE OF SIX FCT AREA COUNCILS, PDP TAKES ONE AS COLLATION CONTINUES.

APC wins in three LGAs, PDP takes one as INEC prepares to declare results in the remaining two LGAs of the FCT local government elections 

In the AMAC chairmanship election, the APC candidate, Christopher Maikalangu, was declared winner after polling 40,295 votes to defeat the ADC candidate who came second with 12,109 votes, while the PDP polled 3,398 votes to finish third.

In the Gwagwalada chairmanship election, the PDP Candidate, Mohammed Kasim polled 22,165 votes to defeat APC's Yahaya Shehu, who polled 17,788 votes, while Biko Umar of APGA scored 1,687 to come third place.

In Kwali Area Council chairmanship election, the APC candidate, Daniel Nuhu polled 17,032 votes to defeat Haruna Pai of the PDP who polled 8,575 votes to come second in the election.

In Bwari Area Council Chairmanship election, the APC candidate, Joshua Ishaku polled 18,466 votes to defeat the candidate of the ADC who scored a total of 4,254 votes, while that of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) scored 3,515 votes to finish third.

The Aleto community in Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State has renewed its call for transparency, accountability and justice over funds allegedly allocated to landowners and host communities connected to Indorama Eleme Petrochemicals, Fertiliser and Super-Packaging companies. Aleto is one of the six host communities to Indorama Eleme. The community says it donated about 159 hectares of land out of approximately 369 hectares used for the development of the company, with the land forming part of the equity arrangement involving the host communities. According to members of the community, families that surrendered their farmlands for the project have, since 2012, continued to demand a clear account of funds and benefits allegedly meant for landowners and other beneficiaries. The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the de@th of 23-year-old Faith Ajoke Alayande, a student of the Nigerian Law School, Lagos Campus, Victoria Island. Alayande was reportedly found de@d within the hostel premises on Friday, August 7, 2026, after she allegedly jumped from the rooftop of a four-storey hostel building. According to the police, a s¥ic+de note was reportedly discovered by her hostel mate and a relative, who began searching for her before she was allegedly found after the incident. The matter was reported to the Victoria Island Police Division by the hostel’s Chief Matron at about 6:30 a.m. Police officers subsequently visited the scene and evacuated Alayande’s body to a morgue for preservation.
