IRAN DENIES TALKS WITH U.S, CONTRADICTS TRUMP'S CLAIM OF 'VERY GOOD' NEGOTIATIONS.
A sharp contradiction has emerged between Washington and Tehran over the state of diplomatic contacts between the two countries, with Iranian state media Press TV flatly denying that any negotiations — direct or indirect — have taken place, even as United States President Donald Trump claimed that talks had been productive and were set to continue.
Trump made the disclosure early Monday on his Truth Social platform, writing in all capitals that the two countries had engaged in “very good and productive conversations” over the past two days aimed at achieving “a complete and total resolution of our hostilities in the Middle East.” The US president said he had ordered a halt to his threatened strikes on Iranian energy infrastructure in light of the talks, signalling what appeared to be a diplomatic breakthrough.
