BREAKING NEWS: FG DECLARES MAY 1 PUBLIC HOLIDAY TO MARK WORKER'S DAY

The Federal Government has declared Friday, May 1, 2026, as a public holiday in celebration of this year’s International Workers’ Day.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement issued on Wednesday by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani.

While congratulating workers across the country, the minister praised their hard work, resilience, and dedication to national development. He noted that the contributions of Nigerian workers remain vital to the nation’s growth and overall prosperity.

Tunji-Ojo further urged workers to embrace patriotism, productivity, and commitment to their duties, stressing that these values are key to achieving sustainable development.

He also reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to improving the welfare and security of workers, as well as creating an enabling environment for economic growth.
