"I WILL BEAT PRESIDENT TINUBU FLAT IN AN ELECTION." -- DINO MELAYE SAYS

Former Kogi West senator, Dino Melaye, has stirred political conversations with bold claims about the 2027 presidential election, expressing strong confidence in his chances against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Speaking during an interview on Independent Mind Media, Melaye criticized the current administration, stating that anyone interested in the presidency under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) could perform “one million times better” than Tinubu. He added that there could “never be a worse president” than the incumbent.

Addressing the possibility of going head-to-head with Tinubu, Melaye maintained that victory would be certain if the electoral process is transparent.

“Let’s go on a free and fair election, I will b+at him flat. He won’t even stand up,” he said. When asked to clarify where such a contest would take place, he responded:

“In the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Let him allow a free and fair contest, and if he doesn’t allow it, we will make him conduct our election.”

Melaye also spoke on internal party dynamics, stressing that he is not driven by desperation but by a desire to see national progress. He noted that he would support whoever emerges through due process within the party.

“We must send Tinubu away. Whoever emerges through consensus or primary, I will support. We are not desperate; we are only interested in raising this country,” he added.

His remarks come amid increasing political conversations and early positioning ahead of the 2027 general elections, as opposition figures continue to challenge the current administration and push for electoral reforms in Nigeria.

The leader of South Africa’s Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), Julius Malema, has been sentenced to an effective five-year term of imprisonment for unlawfully discharging a firearm during the party’s 2018 rally in Mdantsane. ADC DENIED EAGLE MKO ABIOLA STADIUM FOR CONVENTION

The African Democratic Congress has announced a new venue for its national convention scheduled to be held in Abuja on Tuesday. Earlier on Monday, the ADC said it was denied access to both Eagle Square and the Moshood Abiola National Stadium for its convention.  The opposition party said it had written to the office of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, seeking permission to use Eagle Square, but although the letter was acknowledged, no official response had been received. But in another statement, the ADC said the national convention will take place at the Rainbow Event Centre in Abuja. But the FCT Minister has dismissed allegations by the ADC that it was denied access to Eagle Square in Abuja.  Wike described the claims as “unfounded” and an attempt to gain public sympathy. He said no formal application had been submitted by any of the parties making the allegation.
