"IF I HAD KNOWN THIS JOB WAS THIS DANGEROUS, MAYBE I WOULDN'T HAVE RUN" - TRUMP SAYS AFTER WHITE HOUSE SHOOTING.
In a reflective statement after the incident, Trump said he was not fully aware of the risks when he first took on the position, adding that the reality of the job carries serious d+ngers.
“Nobody told me this was such a d+ngerous profession,” he said. “If Marco would have told me, maybe I wouldn’t have run. Maybe I would have said I’ll take a pass.”
Despite acknowledging the risks, Trump noted that he does not personally view the job through fear, stressing that it is part of the responsibility he has accepted.
“It is a d+ngerous profession, but I don’t view it that way. I’m here to do a job, and it’s part of the job,” he said.
He went further to say he could not think of any other profession that carries greater risk, while reaffirming his pride in his service and achievements.
“I can’t imagine that there’s any profession that’s more d+ngerous, but I love the country and I’m very proud. I’m very proud of the job we’ve done. You see what’s happened. We have a great country,” he added.
