The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it will no longer accept correspondences from either faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) led by David Mark or Rafiu Bala, following its review of the March 12 court of appeal judgement.

In a statement signed by Mohammed Kudu, INEC commissioner for information and voter education, the commission said it will also refrain from engaging with both groups or monitoring their meetings, congresses, and conventions pending the determination of the case before the federal high court.

While travelling through the Total Gospel area, also off Odili Road, the victims were allegedly ambushed by unidentified armed hoodlums believed to have trailed them from the hotel. The attackers, who were operating a tricycle, reportedly opened fire, leaving one of the victims with severe gunshot injuries. The injured victim was immediately rushed to BMH Hospital in Port Harcourt, where she later died on March 21, 2026, while receiving treatment. Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Kabiru Tanimu Turaki (SAN). The court, presided over by Justice Keke Meke, also refused an application by the defence counsel seeking to quash the charges against the defendant. Turaki is to be arraigned before the court by the Nigeria Police Force, led by the Inspector General of Police, over allegations of providing false information to the police. Earlier, the matter had been assigned to a High Court sitting in Zuba. However, Turaki failed to appear in court to take his plea. Subsequently, his legal team filed a petition against the judge and requested that the case be reassigned. In his ruling delivered on Thursday, Justice Meke held that there was no justification for the defendant’s absence, noting that Turaki was fully aware of the court proceedings.
