BREAKING NEWS: LATE REV STEPHEN AKINOLA CHURCH REPORTEDLY SPLIT AMID FIGHT BETWEEN FOUNDER'S WIFE AND PASTOR
Crisis has reportedly engulfed the popular Redemption Ministries Church of the First Born following the death of its founder, Late Rev. Stephen Akinola, as internal disagreements continue to deepen within the church leadership.
Reports indicate that the church has been facing serious internal challenges allegedly linked to a leadership dispute between the founder’s wife and the former General Overseer, Pastor Desmond Cletus.
It would be recalled that after the death of Rev. Stephen Akinola, Late Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai announced a new leadership structure for the ministry, appointing Pastor Desmond Cletus as the new General Overseer, while the founder’s wife was made Chairman of the Board of Trustees.
According to eyewitness accounts, tensions reportedly began shortly after Pastor Desmond Cletus was ordained as General Overseer of the ministry. Sources alleged that the situation worsened following the death of Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai.
A source familiar with the development claimed that the founder’s wife accused Pastor Desmond Cletus of alleged mismanagement of church funds and other administrative issues.
Some concerned members of the ministry who spoke with RwG Blog confirmed that the crisis had escalated, allegedly leading to the sealing of the church premises. They also lamented the poor turnout during recent church services, claiming that the church auditorium was nearly empty last Sunday.
As of the time of filing this report, Pastor Desmond Cletus has reportedly resigned as General Overseer of the ministry. However, there has been no official announcement regarding an acting or new General Overseer for the church.
