Governor Soludo Bans Cows, Goats as Condolence Gifts, Dancing With Caskets, Weekday Wake-Keeps and Burials in Anambra State
The government said the move is to restore order, reduce wasteful spending and stop long funeral activities from affecting work and businesses in the state.
Anyone who violates the law risks a ₦100,000 fine, six months imprisonment, or both.
The New Law include:
• No dancing with caskets
• No spraying or sharing souvenirs at funerals
• No posters or billboards of deceased persons around the state
• Funeral activities must end in one day
• Vigil masses and service of songs must end by 9pm
• No blocking of roads during burials
• Corpses must not stay in mortuary for more than two months
