TRAGEDY IN PORT HARCOURT AS SUSPECTED CRIMINAL KILL COMMERCIAL MOTORCYCLIST

Port Harcourt, Nigeria – A commercial motorcyclist, commonly known as an okada rider, has been killed by suspected motorcycle thieves in Port Harcourt.

The victim, who had been missing for a prolonged period, was later found d€ad with his remains already decomposed to sk€letal form.

According to reports, the man was apprehended and m¥rd€red by individuals believed to be involved in motorcycle theft. His body was discovered after an extended search by family and friends.

No arrests have been reported so far.

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), South-West zone, has rejected the proposed ban on preaching inside commercial vehicles, warning that the measure could violate Nigerians’ constitutional rights. The reaction follows the passage of the Federal Road Safety Corps (Amendment) Bill, 2026, by the Senate. The bill proposes a ₦50,000 fine for anyone convicted of hawking, trading or preaching inside commercial vehicles. It also prescribes a ₦50,000 fine, six months’ imprisonment, or both for motorists who refuse to cooperate with FRSC officials during roadside breath tests conducted on reasonable suspicion. Justice Faruku Hassan Bunza of the Kebbi State High Court has been abd¥cted by suspected b@ndits after g¥nmen stormed his residence in Bunza Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
