IF MY MAN EARNS 5K, HE SHOULD GIVE ME AT LEAST 3K; THE DAY HE ASKS ME FOR MONEY, HE'LL NEVER HEAR FROM ME AGAIN" - TOKE
Media personality Toke Makinwa has said she has never been in a relationship where a man asked her for money, adding that she considers it a deal breaker if a partner ever does.
Speaking during a recent episode of her podcast, Toke Moments, which featured reality TV star Mercy Eke, Makinwa reflected on conversations about women being asked to financially support their partners. She said she often wonders why she has never had such an experience.
“When I hear women say these things, I sit down and I ask myself, why don’t men ask me for money? Men don’t ask me for money.”
She jokingly suggested that perhaps the way she presents herself or shares her own challenges discourages men from asking her for financial assistance.
“Maybe there is something on my head. Maybe because before you ask me, I’m already giving you all my problems? As soon as you say how are you? Today I have a headache.’ Maybe that’s why.”
Makinwa maintained that even the men she had dated who were not financially stable never requested money from her.
“I’ve never dated a guy who has ever asked me for money. Even if I date a broke guy, he earns 5K, at least 3K out of that money he’ll give it to me”.
Expressing gratitude for the experience, she insisted that she has never dated a man who confidently asked her for financial support, stressing that doing so would immediately end the relationship.
“I’m thankful for that grace though, because I’ve never, ever, ever dated a guy that has confidently asked me for money. The day you do, you’ll never hear from me again .”
