"WE'RE UNDER ATTACK, BUT WE SHALL WIN" - SERIAKE DICKSON REACTS TO COURT RULING VOIDING NDC DEREGISTRATION

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has strongly condemned a recent order issued by the Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja, describing it as legally unfounded and an attempt to undermine the party's growing political momentum.

In a statement signed by Sariaka Dickson, the party said its leadership, candidates, and supporters were taken by surprise by the ruling delivered by Honourable Justice Isah Dashen. The NDC argued that the order lacks legal merit, is anti-democratic, and poses a threat to Nigeria's multi-party democratic system.

According to the statement, the party has assembled a team of lawyers to challenge the ruling through the appropriate judicial process, expressing confidence that the order will be overturned.

The NDC urged its members, supporters, and candidates across the country to remain calm and continue with their political activities, assuring them that the development would not derail the party's mission or electoral ambitions.

The party further questioned the legal standing of the association that instituted the suit, claiming it is not a registered political party, did not apply for registration in 2025, and was neither among the 171 associations that sought registration nor the 21 shortlisted by the electoral authorities. It also argued that the association had no legal interest in the matter before the court.

The statement alleged that the legal action was motivated by individuals unsettled by the party's rapid growth within the past five months, insisting that the NDC would not be discouraged or distracted from its commitment to deepening multi-party democracy in Nigeria.

Describing the court's decision as a judicial anomaly, the party maintained that it would pursue every lawful means to have the ruling set aside.

The NDC also thanked Nigerians for their continued support, claiming that thousands of citizens registered as party members following the court's decision as a demonstration of solidarity and confidence in the party's vision.

Expressing optimism, the party said it remains confident that it will overcome the legal challenge and continue its political activities, urging members and supporters to remain steadfast as it pursues legal redress.
