PRESIDENTIAL COUNCIL SCANDAL: I'M READY TO FACE THE LAW AND CLEAR MY NAME - ADEYEMI

Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, the man accused of running a fake agency, the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), has vowed to clear his name, saying he is ready to face the law. 

Recall that on Wednesday, July 1, the Presidency denied knowledge of the said agency. A statement released by presidential media aide, Bayo Onanuga, said that Adeyemi is being investigated by security agents and will be charged to court on July 27. The statement added that Adeyemi claimed he was given an appointment letter by President Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, but that the claim has since been denied by Gbajabiamila.

In a chat with Channels TV this evening, Adeyemi said he was ready to defend himself, insisting that he was lawfully appointed to head the organisation.

When asked if he was ready to face the law, he said 

“Definitely, sir. If I’m wrong, let the court of law do that, and if I’m right, let the court of law do that; do the right thing.”

He denied claims labelling him as a con artist, arguing that 

“Since the matter is in the court, let the court of competent jurisdiction vindicate me because I’m ready to clear my name.

Let the court take its course. Since my lawyers are involved, everybody will follow us. They will monitor the whole thing. Then let the court of competent jurisdiction do what they need to’’

When pressed about where the funding for the salaries of staff under the council came from, he insisted that “the truth will be unraveled at the court of law.

“Mr Seun [host of the programme], I don’t want to talk much about it since the matter is in court. In fact, I’m restricted from talking since the matter is in the courts. So let’s just get to the courts, Ok?”

The Aleto community in Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State has renewed its call for transparency, accountability and justice over funds allegedly allocated to landowners and host communities connected to Indorama Eleme Petrochemicals, Fertiliser and Super-Packaging companies. The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the de@th of 23-year-old Faith Ajoke Alayande, a student of the Nigerian Law School, Lagos Campus, Victoria Island. Alayande was reportedly found de@d within the hostel premises on Friday, August 7, 2026, after she allegedly jumped from the rooftop of a four-storey hostel building. According to the police, a s¥ic+de note was reportedly discovered by her hostel mate and a relative, who began searching for her before she was allegedly found after the incident.
