Gospel music minister Asu Ekiye has offered clarification on the circumstances surrounding the dissolution of his 28-year marriage, following numerous calls and messages seeking to understand what led to the separation.

In a statement, Ekiye explained that the decision to end the marriage was not initiated by him, but by his wife, who, according to him, expressed her desire to end the relationship, moved out of their home and subsequently commenced divorce proceedings.

He stated that for about a year after the separation, he made several efforts and appeals towards reconciliation, hoping that the marriage could be preserved. However, he said those efforts were unsuccessful as his wife remained firm in her decision.

“Having done all I could to seek reconciliation, I eventually came to the difficult decision to accept the reality of the situation and allow the divorce process to take its course,” Ekiye said.

The veteran gospel minister stressed that his clarification was intended solely to set the record straight and not to cast aspersions on his estranged wife or anyone involved.

He added that despite the end of the marriage, he holds no bitterness or ill will towards anyone, choosing instead to approach the next chapter of his life with grace, dignity, maturity and respect for all concerned.

The clarification comes after Ekiye previously announced the end of his 28-year marriage, describing the development as the closing of a significant chapter in his life.
