KANO MASS WEDDING: I NOW HAVE 3 WIVES AFTER ADDING YET ANOTHER ONE THROUGH THIS LAUDABLE INITIATIVE - BENEFICIARY EXPRESSES HAPPINESS

Dantani Aruba, one of the beneficiaries of the Kano State Government-sponsored mass wedding programme, has expressed excitement after taking another wife through the initiative.

Speaking at the mass wedding ceremony on Saturday, Aruba said the government-backed programme had enabled him to grow his family without having to take on the financial responsibilities that typically come with getting married.

In a video recorded by NewsCentralTV on Monday and currently trending, Aruba said he had just married another woman and was pleased with the development, noting that he now has three wives.

“I just married another wife, and I am happy that I have married another one. My wives are now three,” he said.

Aruba was among the beneficiaries who got married during the mass wedding organised by the Kano State Government as part of its intervention aimed at supporting people who may not be financially capable of paying the costs associated with marriage.

The state government, under Governor Abba Yusuf, sponsored the marriage of 1,500 couples at a cost of N1.5bn.

The programme, which is coordinated by the Kano State Hisbah Board, is designed to assist people from low-income backgrounds, including widows, widowers, divorcees, spinsters and bachelors.

The state government had earlier disclosed that the money allocated for the programme would cater for dowry, empowerment assistance and household items for those taking part.

According to the state government, every couple participating in the programme is entitled to support that includes dowry, furniture, food items and other materials intended to assist them in setting up their homes.

Known popularly as Auren Gata, the programme was introduced in Kano in 2012 by the then Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. At the time, 100 couples, mostly widows and divorcees, were married at the palace.
