"A TRUE MOTHER DOESN'T CELEBRATE WHILE HER CHILDREN ARE MISSING" - ATIKU BLASTS FIRST LADY REMI TINUBU
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has criticised President Bola Tinubu’s administration over the handling of abd¥cted schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State.
Atiku, through his aide Phrank Shaibu, said it was disturbing that weeks after the May 15, 2026 abd¥ctions, the victims were still in captivity while government officials continued political activities and public celebrations. He accused the administration of lacking urgency and empathy in responding to the crisis.
He also faulted First Lady Oluremi Tinubu’s public engagements during the period, saying: “A true mother does not celebrate while her children are missing,” adding that leadership should prioritise the safe return of abd¥cted victims over political festivities.
Atiku further described ongoing displays of celebration amid insecurity as insensitive, insisting that Nigerians expect urgent action rather than what he called “political pageantry,” while urging authorities to ensure the immediate rescue of the kidn@ppedpupils and teachers.
The criticism follows growing public concern over repeated school abductions, including the May 15 att@cks in Oyo State’s Oriire LGA and a separate incident in Borno State where 42 children and residents were abd¥cted.
