ALEX LETON NDOO, NDUDUM DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION MARK WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY WITH DISTRIBUTION OF THOUSANDS OF BOOKS TO STUDENTS


The Ndudum Development Foundation (NDF) has commemorated the 2026 World Environment Day with an educational outreach programme across selected public and private schools in Ogoniland, aimed at promoting environmental awareness and sustainability among young people.

The outreach, which took place on June 5, was led by the Foundation's Founder, Comrade Alex Leton Ndoo, alongside members of the organization. The team visited several schools to educate pupils and students on the importance of environmental protection, proper waste disposal, cleanliness, and sustainable practices.

During the interactive sessions, students were encouraged to take active roles in protecting their environment and preserving natural resources for future generations. The Foundation stressed the need for environmental responsibility and community participation in addressing environmental challenges.

As part of the programme, the Foundation distributed exercise books and other educational materials to pupils and students in the schools visited. The gesture was warmly welcomed by both the beneficiaries and school authorities, who expressed gratitude for the Foundation's support toward education and youth development.

Speaking during the event, Comrade Alex Leton Ndoo highlighted the significance of the 2026 World Environment Day theme, "Climate Action," emphasizing the urgent need for collective action in tackling environmental issues. He urged students to adopt environmentally friendly habits both at home and in school, noting that small individual actions can contribute significantly to creating a healthier and more sustainable environment.

The outreach further underscored the Ndudum Development Foundation's commitment to community development, educational support, and environmental advocacy. Through initiatives like this, the Foundation continues to inspire positive change and contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of Ogoniland.

As the world celebrates World Environment Day, the Foundation reaffirmed its dedication to promoting environmental consciousness and empowering the younger generation to become champions of a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future.

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a 101-year-old great-grandmother for dealing in illicit drugs and also intercepted cocaine concealed in edible cassava flour popularly known as fufu. In a rare and startling development, NDLEA operatives on Saturday, August, arrested a 101-year-old woman, Esther Ogunmabo, in Ilisan, Ogun state, with retail sachets of skunk, a strain of cannabis weighing 90 grams, which she claims she sells to locals. The centenarian told operatives that she resorted to the illicit drug trade after her provisions shop was razed by fire, adding that one of her daughters, who resides in Lagos, arranges the supply of the substance to her every four days, which she in turn sold in bits. A 31-year-old mother, Kenya Glasgow, and her two-year-old daughter, Kennedi, have been k+lled by lightning during a thunderstorm in Margate, south-east Florida. Kenya was reportedly walking along Northwest 1st Street with her two-year-old twins on Sunday when lightning struck shortly before 2:30 p.m. A resident who found the mother and daughter lying on the sidewalk immediately called 911. The Ogoni Dialogue Committee, ODC, has denied claims that it influenced the allocation of 40 job slots at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, or played any role in the award of government contracts. Speaking at a press conference in Port Harcourt, ODC Chairman, Professor Don Baridam, said the 40 employment opportunities were proposed as part of confidence-building measures in the Ogoni dialogue with the Federal Government. He, however, stressed that the committee neither selected nor recruited the beneficiaries, saying NNPCL relied on its existing recruitment database to identify qualified Ogoni applicants.
