31-YEAR-OLD MOTHER AND HER TODDLER DAUGHTER D+E AFTER BEING STRUCK BY LIGHTNING DURING THUNDERSTORM IN FLORIDA

A 31-year-old mother, Kenya Glasgow, and her two-year-old daughter, Kennedi, have been k+lled by lightning during a thunderstorm in Margate, south-east Florida.

Kenya was reportedly walking along Northwest 1st Street with her two-year-old twins on Sunday when lightning struck shortly before 2:30 p.m. A resident who found the mother and daughter lying on the sidewalk immediately called 911.

According to police, both victims had b¥rn marks on their bodies, with smoke reportedly coming from the injuries. The witness also said Kenya appeared to have two holes in her chest.

Margate police officers and fire rescue personnel arrived at the scene and immediately began CPR. Kenya and Kennedi were later rushed to separate hospitals, but despite efforts by first responders and medical personnel, both were pronounced d+ad shortly after arrival.

Kenya’s husband, Kam Glasgow, described the tragedy as difficult to comprehend, saying the chances of being struck by lightning are extremely low. He later remembered his wife as his “best friend” and said their surviving daughter, Kensli, would now have to grow up without her identical twin.

ASU EKIYE CLARIFIES CIRCUMSTANCES SURROUNDING DIVORCE

Gospel music minister Asu Ekiye has offered clarification on the circumstances surrounding the dissolution of his 28-year marriage, following numerous calls and messages seeking to understand what led to the separation. In a statement, Ekiye explained that the decision to end the marriage was not initiated by him, but by his wife, who, according to him, expressed her desire to end the relationship, moved out of their home and subsequently commenced divorce proceedings. The Aleto community in Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State has renewed its call for transparency, accountability and justice over funds allegedly allocated to landowners and host communities connected to Indorama Eleme Petrochemicals, Fertiliser and Super-Packaging companies. Aleto is one of the six host communities to Indorama Eleme. The community says it donated about 159 hectares of land out of approximately 369 hectares used for the development of the company, with the land forming part of the equity arrangement involving the host communities. Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a 101-year-old great-grandmother for dealing in illicit drugs and also intercepted cocaine concealed in edible cassava flour popularly known as fufu. In a rare and startling development, NDLEA operatives on Saturday, August, arrested a 101-year-old woman, Esther Ogunmabo, in Ilisan, Ogun state, with retail sachets of skunk, a strain of cannabis weighing 90 grams, which she claims she sells to locals. The centenarian told operatives that she resorted to the illicit drug trade after her provisions shop was razed by fire, adding that one of her daughters, who resides in Lagos, arranges the supply of the substance to her every four days, which she in turn sold in bits. The Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Brig Gen Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), has, however, directed that the suspect be granted bail and placed on counselling because of her advanced age, while her daughter has been arrested.
