31-YEAR-OLD MOTHER AND HER TODDLER DAUGHTER D+E AFTER BEING STRUCK BY LIGHTNING DURING THUNDERSTORM IN FLORIDA
A 31-year-old mother, Kenya Glasgow, and her two-year-old daughter, Kennedi, have been k+lled by lightning during a thunderstorm in Margate, south-east Florida.
Kenya was reportedly walking along Northwest 1st Street with her two-year-old twins on Sunday when lightning struck shortly before 2:30 p.m. A resident who found the mother and daughter lying on the sidewalk immediately called 911.
According to police, both victims had b¥rn marks on their bodies, with smoke reportedly coming from the injuries. The witness also said Kenya appeared to have two holes in her chest.
Margate police officers and fire rescue personnel arrived at the scene and immediately began CPR. Kenya and Kennedi were later rushed to separate hospitals, but despite efforts by first responders and medical personnel, both were pronounced d+ad shortly after arrival.
Kenya’s husband, Kam Glasgow, described the tragedy as difficult to comprehend, saying the chances of being struck by lightning are extremely low. He later remembered his wife as his “best friend” and said their surviving daughter, Kensli, would now have to grow up without her identical twin.
