27-YEAR-OLD NIGERIAN MUM IN U.K DIED BY SUICIDE AFTER MENTAL HEALTH STRUGGLES, INQUEST HEARS


Beatrice Solomon was found unresponsive at her home on Norris Road, Stanfield, Stoke-on-Trent, on Wednesday, March 4, 2026.

Beatrice’s husband - 40-year-old Damian Michael Butler, left for work at his delivery job at around 4.30pm before returning just two hours later to use the toilet. He then made the heart-breaking discovery, UK publications reported on July 12. 

PC Hinchliffe told the inquest that paramedics arrived shortly afterwards but Beatrice was sadly declared d3ad at the scene at 6.21pm. 

Officers ruled out any third-party involvement.

Damian told the inquest that Beatrice had been suffering with her mental health for the past 12 months due to ongoing issues with Stoke-on-Trent City Council. 

Damian added he later learned she had made two previous attempts on her life.

Pathologist Dr Jones ruled she d!ed from oxygen deprivation.

Coroner Li Hammond-Naylor concluded that Beatrice d!ed as a result of su!cide.

“It is clear to me that Beatrice had researched and planned how to take her own life. I can only extend my sincere condolences to Beatrice’s family and friends,” she said. 

Beatrice, a carer, arrived in Stoke-on-Trent from Nigeria in November 2023.

She leaves behind a son, as well as her siblings.

ASU EKIYE CLARIFIES CIRCUMSTANCES SURROUNDING DIVORCE

Gospel music minister Asu Ekiye has offered clarification on the circumstances surrounding the dissolution of his 28-year marriage, following numerous calls and messages seeking to understand what led to the separation. In a statement, Ekiye explained that the decision to end the marriage was not initiated by him, but by his wife, who, according to him, expressed her desire to end the relationship, moved out of their home and subsequently commenced divorce proceedings. President Bola Tinubu has ordered the arrest of one George Buchi Nwabueze and suspended three permanent secretaries after the anti graft agency ICPC uncovered another fake agency operating within the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation. ICPC Chairman Musa Aliyu, made this known after briefing the President for the second consecutive day this week.   He says the agency , National Brands Development and Made-in-Nigeria Special Project Office was uncovered while investigating the fake Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council. The Ogoni Dialogue Committee, ODC, has denied claims that it influenced the allocation of 40 job slots at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, or played any role in the award of government contracts. Speaking at a press conference in Port Harcourt, ODC Chairman, Professor Don Baridam, said the 40 employment opportunities were proposed as part of confidence-building measures in the Ogoni dialogue with the Federal Government. A 31-year-old mother, Kenya Glasgow, and her two-year-old daughter, Kennedi, have been k+lled by lightning during a thunderstorm in Margate, south-east Florida. Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a 101-year-old great-grandmother for dealing in illicit drugs and also intercepted cocaine concealed in edible cassava flour popularly known as fufu. In a rare and startling development, NDLEA operatives on Saturday, August, arrested a 101-year-old woman, Esther Ogunmabo, in Ilisan, Ogun state, with retail sachets of skunk, a strain of cannabis weighing 90 grams, which she claims she sells to locals. The centenarian told operatives that she resorted to the illicit drug trade after her provisions shop was razed by fire, adding that one of her daughters, who resides in Lagos, arranges the supply of the substance to her every four days, which she in turn sold in bits.
