MAN ARRESTED FOR ALLEGEDLY BURNING HIS 10-YEAR-OLD DAUGHTER'S PR@ PART WITH HOT PRESSING IRON FOR BEDWETTING IN ONDO

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a father in Owo Local Government Area for allegedly causing grievous bodily h@rm on his 10-year old daughter 

The command’s spokesperson, SP Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday, July 16, 2026, that the suspect, Amos Paul,used a hot pressing iron to b¥rn the priv@te part of his daughter as punishment for bedwetting.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) said the suspect was taken into custody after the incident was reported to the police on Thursday. He added that the victim is currently receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Owo.

Jimoh further stated that the case would be transferred to the Gender Unit for thorough investigation and other necessary actions.

Meanwhile, Ondo State Commissioner of Police, CP Felix Ohagwu, condemned the alleged assa¥lt, describing it as cruel, inhumane and unacceptable.

He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to safeguarding children and other vulnerable members of society against all forms of ab¥se, vi%lence and exploitation.

The Commissioner also urged members of the public to promptly report incidents of child ab¥se, domestic vi%lence and other related offences to the nearest police station, assuring them that the Command remains committed to ensuring perpetrators are brought to justice.

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a 101-year-old great-grandmother for dealing in illicit drugs and also intercepted cocaine concealed in edible cassava flour popularly known as fufu. In a rare and startling development, NDLEA operatives on Saturday, August, arrested a 101-year-old woman, Esther Ogunmabo, in Ilisan, Ogun state, with retail sachets of skunk, a strain of cannabis weighing 90 grams, which she claims she sells to locals. The centenarian told operatives that she resorted to the illicit drug trade after her provisions shop was razed by fire, adding that one of her daughters, who resides in Lagos, arranges the supply of the substance to her every four days, which she in turn sold in bits. The Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Brig Gen Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), has, however, directed that the suspect be granted bail and placed on counselling because of her advanced age, while her daughter has been arrested.

WHATSAPP TO START CHARGING NIGERIA BUSINESSES FROM OCTOBER 2026

Businesses using Meta’s WhatsApp Business Platform will begin paying for certain customer messages from October 1, 2026, following a new pricing structure announced by the company. The new policy applies primarily to organisations that use the WhatsApp Business Platform, formerly known as the WhatsApp Business API, to handle customer communications at scale. However, regular WhatsApp users and small businesses using the standard WhatsApp Business app are not the primary targets of the new charges. A 31-year-old mother, Kenya Glasgow, and her two-year-old daughter, Kennedi, have been k+lled by lightning during a thunderstorm in Margate, south-east Florida.
