"MY GREATEST FEAR IS RAISING MY CHILDREN IN NIGERIA; THERE ARE TOO MANY DULL PEOPLE HERE." -- OPEYEMI FAMAKIN

Food critic Opeyemi Famakin has sparked reactions after expressing concerns about raising his future children in Nigeria, saying he wants to remain in the country but worries about the environment they would grow up in.

Speaking during a discussion, Famakin said he has no plans to relocate abroad because he wants to help build Nigeria. However, he questioned whether he would want his children to grow up around what he described as “dullards.”

“In real life, Nigerians, the way Nigerians are dull, it scares me for my children, because I don’t want to japa. I want to build Nigeria. But my kids, my kids cannot grow up with these dullards. My kids cannot, and they are loud about it.”

Comparing Nigerians and Ghanaians, he argued that Ghanaians possess better critical thinking skills, while Nigerians excel more in business, creativity and hustling.

“Ghanaians are smarter than Nigerians. It’s just, they are not as hardworking. No, they are not as hardworking, they are not hustlers. Nigerians are business smart. You can be business smart and dull generally.”

He further stated that success in business should not be mistaken for intelligence in everyday life.

“Being business smart and smart in real life are different things. You can be business smart, you can k+ll it in the business space, but in real life, in critical thinking, you can be a dull piece of sh+t. When it comes to business, hustling, making money, creativity, Nigerians are smart”

ASU EKIYE CLARIFIES CIRCUMSTANCES SURROUNDING DIVORCE

Gospel music minister Asu Ekiye has offered clarification on the circumstances surrounding the dissolution of his 28-year marriage, following numerous calls and messages seeking to understand what led to the separation. In a statement, Ekiye explained that the decision to end the marriage was not initiated by him, but by his wife, who, according to him, expressed her desire to end the relationship, moved out of their home and subsequently commenced divorce proceedings. President Bola Tinubu has ordered the arrest of one George Buchi Nwabueze and suspended three permanent secretaries after the anti graft agency ICPC uncovered another fake agency operating within the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation. ICPC Chairman Musa Aliyu, made this known after briefing the President for the second consecutive day this week.   He says the agency , National Brands Development and Made-in-Nigeria Special Project Office was uncovered while investigating the fake Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council. The Ogoni Dialogue Committee, ODC, has denied claims that it influenced the allocation of 40 job slots at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, or played any role in the award of government contracts. Speaking at a press conference in Port Harcourt, ODC Chairman, Professor Don Baridam, said the 40 employment opportunities were proposed as part of confidence-building measures in the Ogoni dialogue with the Federal Government. He, however, stressed that the committee neither selected nor recruited the beneficiaries, saying NNPCL relied on its existing recruitment database to identify qualified Ogoni applicants. Professor Baridam acknowledged that some ODC members submitted names for consideration but said the nominations did not determine the final selection. A 31-year-old mother, Kenya Glasgow, and her two-year-old daughter, Kennedi, have been k+lled by lightning during a thunderstorm in Margate, south-east Florida. Kenya was reportedly walking along Northwest 1st Street with her two-year-old twins on Sunday when lightning struck shortly before 2:30 p.m. A resident who found the mother and daughter lying on the sidewalk immediately called 911. Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a 101-year-old great-grandmother for dealing in illicit drugs and also intercepted cocaine concealed in edible cassava flour popularly known as fufu. In a rare and startling development, NDLEA operatives on Saturday, August, arrested a 101-year-old woman, Esther Ogunmabo, in Ilisan, Ogun state, with retail sachets of skunk, a strain of cannabis weighing 90 grams, which she claims she sells to locals. The centenarian told operatives that she resorted to the illicit drug trade after her provisions shop was razed by fire, adding that one of her daughters, who resides in Lagos, arranges the supply of the substance to her every four days, which she in turn sold in bits. The Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Brig Gen Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), has, however, directed that the suspect be granted bail and placed on counselling because of her advanced age, while her daughter has been arrested.
